H. David Cogley was an engineer with the 326th engineer battalion of the 101st Airborne Division stationed at Camp Eagle in South Vietnam. His collection includes a scrapbook, reminiscence, and photographs of his experiences in South Vietnam as a member of an engineer battalion in the 101st Airborne Division from 1969 to 1970.

Historical note: The First Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division was sent to Vietnam in 1965. It was the third United States Army unit to arrive. In December of 1967, the remainder of the division was deployed to Bien Hoa, South Vietnam in Operation Eagle Thrust. The 101st was the only army division ever airlifted directly into combat. Herbert David Cogley was born on December 28, 1945, in Brusett, Montana. He earned his high school diploma in Jordan, Montana, in 1964. In 1968, Cogley earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Montana State University.
